Maternity Work Wear: Blushing in Stripes and Embracing The Bump

Shopping for maternity work clothes has been somewhat of a challenge.  A lot of what I came across were tight fitting bodycon dresses. As I would scroll, I would find myself wondering what office would I be going to in a body hugging dress.

Asos has been my go to for maternity outfits which is where I found this dress.  The only downside I have found to online shopping is that some of the items I have received the fabric quality has not been the greatest.  I love the pink and grey paired together in the dress’ pattern. I decided to style it with one of my favorite finds from Banana Republic. I randomly found this coat instore and it was the only one left during the black friday sales almost 2 years ago. For the price (less than $100) I had to have it. I almost sent it back because I am not someone who wears pink all the time. I can recite how many pink items I have in my closet.

As my belly has been growing I have been more conscious of what I am purchasing.  Part of me was thinking I could just purchase some non maternity items in bigger sizes and be good to go, but boy was I wrong. I bought two pencil skirts from Jcrew and in less than 2 weeks I could not zip them up. Also, as I have started to embrace maternity clothes, I realized that they are much more comfortable. Comfort is huge as your belly gets bigger and your feet start to swell as the work day progresses.

Most maternity clothes have the extra fabric around the belly area which makes the fit of maternity clothes more flattering. I remember looking at myself in the mirror in one of the Jcrew skirts I had purchased and my waistline was non-existent. I remember telling my husband I looked like the Pillsbury Doughboy. Not a very flattering look.

Do you have any suggestions on other places to find maternity clothes?

Looking gorgeous mama! ASOS was a great spot for my maternity shopping too, I also really liked the everyday pieces and work wear that I got from GAP and Old Navy.
