I decided to talk about how to stay fit during pregnancy in today’s post because being healthy is one of the things I have focused on during my pregnancy.
When my husband and I started dating I gained the relationship pounds. Not just a few, quite a bit. Before our wedding, we both got into crossfit (which I had done on and off for a few years) and I was able to fit into my dress. Fast forward to when we were talking about starting a family. One of the things I brought up to my doctor was my concern with gaining weight during pregnancy when I was already struggling losing the weight I did not want. He told me I needed to step it up and lose weight because once I was pregnant, there was no going on a diet. Sigh…
When we found out I was pregnant, my first trimester was awful. I was exhausted and got sick late in the day. I had no desire to do anything let alone workout. So I did nothing. I felt guilty about it and brought it up to my husband constantly.
Being on the internet and seeing all these other pregnant women working out and talking about how you should have no excuse because they were going through the same pregnancy experiences but managed to workout. I have come to realize that every person is different and what their experiences are going to be different. Growing a human is a lot of work and takes a lot out of you. Some people experience morning sickness throughout their pregnancy.
I laid around during the first trimester and then decided that I was going to start working out. Crossfit was definitely something I wanted to get back into, and because I had done it for years there was not problem in me getting back to it. I just had to be smart about what I was doing and also keeping the weights low. As I started to research the different crossfit boxes around Columbus, since we had moved, my doctor told me I needed to take it easy. I was bummed but I had to do as he had told me.
I looked into other things and learned that walking, swimming , and yoga were some exercises I could do that would not put to much strain on my body and risk having the baby early. My husband I also made sure we ate healthy meals. If I was not going to be as active I definitely was not about to eat whatever the hell I wanted. For some reason this baby has been a healthy baby. I have the worst heartburn if I eat any fried foods. My cravings have been cottage cheese with fresh peaches and more recently, oranges.
When I saw this fun floral print from Old Navy, I knew I had to add it to my collection of workout clothes.
It takes everything out of me to get moving in the evenings after work. However, the whole family gets involved in making sure this mama to be gets her exercise in. Brutus, the Basset hound, usually walks with me since we are both a little slower than my husband and Bailey. He sniffs and pees on every bush and I just follow behind. He definitely leads the walks. I am so ready to meet our little guy and take him on family walks.
How are you staying fit?

I tried to stay fit during the middle of my pregnancy but towards the end I gave up. I wish I hadn’t because I BLEW UP!!! It’s been a year and I am still having trouble getting to my pre pregnancy weight. If you want to have less work after pregnancy (which you will people, I promise) then get up and go on that walk!

My little sister has been telling me that if I am not active I am going to regret it. So I have been trying. Its so hard sometimes though.
staying active during pregnancy is so import,if you arent on bed rest. walking alone strengthens your leg muscles!
Beautiful Mama! Congratulations! Once you get past the first trimester it’s so good to get to the gym. Spin class was my life saver for fitness and to burn off hormonal mental stress during my pregnancy. Lots of walking is great as you get closer to your due date.
