7 Men’s Wardrobe Must Haves

Having the right pieces in your wardrobe is key to being a well dressed gentleman. In today’s post, where I am introducing a new series, I am listing a few items wardrobe must haves for men. Some of Ry’s go to clothing stores are Banana Republic, J Crew, and Brooks Brothers.

7 WARDROBE MUST HAVES FOR MEN

Blazer

One of the items at the top of the wardrobe must haves list that not just every man should have as part of wardrobe basics/essentials but every woman as well is a well tailored blazer or sport coat. I always refer to men’s blazers as sport coats, which made me look up where the term sport coat comes from. Below is the definition according to the dictionary:

According to this Esquire article, there actually is a difference between a blazer, a sport coat, and a suit jacket. Who knew?

Jeans 

Straight leg jeans in a dark wash are definitely a wardrobe basic. Dark wash denim just looks better if you need to dress up your jeans. Be it for a date or the days that you can wear jeans to the office. They definitely will make you look more put together.

Socks and not your grandpas white tube socks!

There is nothing worse than a well-dressed man in white tube socks. Those belong in a nursing home or more for people like me who have to wear socks to bed because their feet are always cold. A great pair of colorful socks goes a long way.

Shoes – Boots and sneakers

A great pair of boots that would go with a pair of jeans or dress pants is definitely a wardrobe essential.

Having a pair of comfortable sneakers that you can wear on the weekends or to the office, if your office dress code allows it is a must. You can pick up a colorful pair or just a basic pair of white sneakers.

Perfect Fitting Trousers

Pleated pants are out unless you are dressing up for a Miami Vice theme party. A perfect fitting pair of trousers is a wardrobe must have.

Tailored Coat 

A well-tailored coat for fall and winter is a definite wardrobe essential. It always makes a look whether dressed up or dressed down look put together.

Button Down Shirt 

Button down shirts are great with dress pants and jeans. Definitely go for the more tailored and not the baggy shirts.
