5 Tips To Incorporating Latest Fall Trends Into Your Wardrobe

fall trends

For 2018’s fall trends, the looks we saw on the runway were animal print, tweed, cowboy trend, and colorful plaid, just to name a few. It is finally chilly in Ohio and we can all get our fall looks out and dive into 2018’s fall trends. This is by far my favorite time of the year. Its not hot and its not cold, just the right temps to layer my outfits. If you follow me on Instagram, I have been sharing some of the fashion trends for fall 2018. I figured I would share some of the ways that you can incorporate those fall trends into your wardrobe.

Tip 1: Make Sure They Fit

I have been guilty of this multiple times. I used to purchase items that were a size too small because I was planning on losing the weight. Or, I would find items on sale and my size sold out. Not sure what made me think buying a smaller size just because it was on sale made sense. Now, I vary between a size 10 and size 12 and will only purchase items or keep them if they truly fit. Don’t get me wrong, there are days I am not happy with my postpartum body and wished I was back to being a size 0, but that aint happening any time soon. I am slowly learning to embrace this new body of mine. If it fits and makes you feel good when you put it on then keep it!

Tip 2: Think of your budget and stick with it

In this world of fast fashion and social media, its easy to get carried away. Everyone is talking about the next best fall trend item that you need to add to your wardrobe. It doesn’t just stop at clothing, its everything. Make a budget and stick to it. Do not get yourself into financial trouble just because someone on social media thinks you have to have the cardigan they are sporting. I don’t know about you, but to be honest, I do not have a monthly clothing budget. I write a list of items that I need and slowly add those pieces to my closet. There are months I do not buy anything because what I have in my closet works.

Stick with pieces that flatter your body

I love wearing midi skirts and with my postpartum body, flared dresses and skirts fit best. I try to stick to the flared fit when I am purchasing skirts of dresses. There is always no guarantee that everything will fit perfectly off the rack. Sometimes you have to get items altered. Make sure you find a good tailor and always ask them what pieces can be easily altered. I know my last tailor always deterred me from purchasing items with a side zipper if I was going to need them altered.

Opt for shoes

For some people, the animal print trend can be too much for their lifestyle. Going to work in a leopard print dress may not work for your office, or it might just not be your style. I would definitely encourage you to try out buying a pair of shoes in some of the prints, if you are willing to try them out and if you know that you will get some wear out of those shoes.

Use Accessories

Another way to incorporate the fall trends is to use accessories. For me, the tweed trend and the cowboy trends are two that I will not be going out to purchase a whole lot because those two trends do not really fit into my lifestyle. I found a vintage calf hair crossbody which will be how I will be embracing the cowboy trend. For the tweed fall trend, I went with a scarf. I have seen animal print earrings as well.

Thank you Sandy. That black and white purse is by far one of my favorite vintage finds. I have been buying a lot of purses used lately.
